Stars and Earthly Lights

I'm sure all of us some point in our life have looked up to the sky and thought: Wow, I'm so freakin' insignificant that it's laughable.

Well, that's true. 100 million stars in the Milky Way alone, and there's only one in our solar system. Though it already makes our planet look like a piece of pocket lint. And out planet makes makes us look like pocket lint...

That's a lot of space. And if you don't believe in E.T. That's a lot of wasted space. So yeah, I sometimes wonder how we ended up here anyway. Why would God create a universe so vast and so beautiful only to have us insignificant little humans live on one tiny planet? I think this is what the meaning of our life is; to fnd out why?

Like Armor

If you haven't been living under a rock the past 2 years, you've probably heard about the not so recent HBO hit series, Game of Thrones. I'm not to keen about the television show, but I adore the books. The character development is so much more in depth and thorough. It's like you can actually imagine having a real conversation with them and actually predict what they would say.

My favourite character though is Tyrion Lannister. The brilliant, sarcastic, filthy rich, whore monger of the Lannister family. An imp of a man. He is shunned by his golden-haired siblings for his deformed face and lack of their family's signature cruelty. Yet he still strives hard for their approval. I won't go much into detail about his life since I'd rather you read the book to do him justice. But my point is we're all Tyrions in the inside. We don't fit in, we get judged, we get ridiculed, we're "different" but Tyrion teaches us that being different just means fate is challenging you to do a little something different. He shows us that being different means you are unique and that people who criticise you are just too blind to see it.

“Never forget who you are, for surely the world won’t. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armour yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.” -Tyrion Lannister

Desiderata

"Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence."
 - Desiderata, Max Ehrman

I absolutely love this poem. Why? Because though it has a lot of meaning to it, it's quite simple to understand. Yet there's still that vibrancy and that passion the author conveys. Both longing for a better life and contentment for the one you have now. It conveys to us the message that we should be happy with what has been given to us, yet strive to have more. Be ambitious, but never greedy. Count yourself lucky, but don't be prideful about it. Stop to smell the flowers before proceeding to the busy life ahead of you, and always remember to pluck one once in a while.

MMORPGs In Your Face

I don't get why people hate on MMORPGs (For those of you who don't know, MMORPGs are assive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games) I mean yes, they seem a bit mindless at first glance. But have you ever even tried to play one? It's freaking fun. An alternate universe where you become your own character. Strong, fast and powerful. Heroes, mages, assassins. Where violence seems to be the key to almost everything. Sounds tempting, no?

Yes, it is. Almost too tempting that you tend to get lost here. You forget all worries, all problems. It's like crack, but more on the fantasy part. You get hooked on it and you never want to leave again. It becomes your stress ball; a way to escape real life. Just remember too never get sucked in too deep.

Wow, I'm making games like League of Legend and Defence of the Ancients sound like Nirvana, aren't I? Well, I just have to say that the first time I tried it I wouldn't sleep at night trying vainly to win PvP battles and the like. So for those of you who are open with their addiction, I salute you. And to those girls who think their boyfriends love LoL more than them, I say to you: Don't knock it till' you try it, and get over yourselves.

Bread n' Butter

Yes, this post is entirely dedicated to the joys of bread and butter. I love bread and butter, it's like a gift from the gods for poor and humble souls. Yes, criticise me all you want for having cheap tastes but that's because you might not be able to appreciate it like I do. I'd eat it everyday if I could, but that would get old really fast. So I settle for once a week. I agree that you might find it odd and quirky. Bread and butter? really/ of all the things? but I enjoy it, and it makes my world go round :D

The Velvetine Rabbit

I'm sure most of you have read this little picture book when you were young. About the Velvetine Rabbit who's owner comes down with Scarlett fever. When he gets better they had to burn the rabbit because it has the virus on him. In the end, the Velvetine Rabbit become a real rabbit because it's been set free and yadda yadda yadda...

What I really like about htis book though is that I used to always cry in the end. I'm a sucker for bunnies and the Velventine Rabbit just looked so  cute and innocent. I guess it's a story about loss, and about how when another door closes that just means another has yet to open. The boy was so attatched to this stuffed animal that he didn't want to let it go even if it already was a danger to his health. The Rabbit though, even if he was equally attatched, was wiling to let him go because of its love for him. Makes you think, doesn't it?

What's in the name of an OTP...

For those of you who don't know, us teenage girls have this insane obsession with shipping. No, not that kind of shipping. Shipping as in you pair one person from a certain story, with another person from the same or a different story. And as they say in our world: If you don't like the ship, then get off our boat ;)

Well, I come from a special breed of fangirls, called yaoi fangirls. Yaoi is a japanese slang word meaning "boys love" which has been growing increasingly popular lately in fanfiction. Some example of yaoi ships may be Drarry (Draco and Harry), Klaine (Kurt and Blaine), and even AmericaxEngland for those of you who like anime.

As you may have guessed so far, my OTP (One True Pairing) is a yaoi couple. Steve Rogers and Tony Stark. The former might be better known as Captain America. Yes, it may sound unconventional, but hear me out for a second. A Brooklyn gentleman from humble beginnings, living in the World War II era with a dream of fighting for his country. Frozen for 70 in the Arctic ocean, now finds himself in the future with his identity and everyone he loves now gone. Enter Tony Stark, self-proclaimed genius, billionare, playboy, and philantrophist. A man of the future who has no regrets and no qualms about his past. Both scarred, both lost, and both on the complete opposites of life's spectrum. In short, they were made for each other.

So yes, this ends another round of "who wants to know more about me?" a.k.a nobody. Til' next time my midgets!

Tomorrow At Dawn

My time on this earth grows short. I will die tomorrow. My grave will say: Here lies Kate, she died from severe overexposure to math, Filipino math.

Well, maybe not that exactly. Probably something more along the lines of a severe nosebleed or severe brain damage from hitting her head on the desk too hard.Yeah, something like that. If anyone who knows me is reading this, please tell my parents I want an open casket and a hundred-twenty-four Stargazer lilies at my funeral. Also, tell them to enumerate the elements of the periodic table when I'm being lowered into the ground just for the heck of it.

For those of you who don't know, I'm taking the UPCAT tomorrow. For those of you who still don't know, the UPCAT is the hardest college entrance test I will ever take in my adolescent life.  A combination of all my years of studies rolled into one booklet of question that when read aloud, can probably open the gates to hell or something.

So yes, wish me luck fellow multi-celled organisms :)
