The Velvetine Rabbit

I'm sure most of you have read this little picture book when you were young. About the Velvetine Rabbit who's owner comes down with Scarlett fever. When he gets better they had to burn the rabbit because it has the virus on him. In the end, the Velvetine Rabbit become a real rabbit because it's been set free and yadda yadda yadda...

What I really like about htis book though is that I used to always cry in the end. I'm a sucker for bunnies and the Velventine Rabbit just looked so  cute and innocent. I guess it's a story about loss, and about how when another door closes that just means another has yet to open. The boy was so attatched to this stuffed animal that he didn't want to let it go even if it already was a danger to his health. The Rabbit though, even if he was equally attatched, was wiling to let him go because of its love for him. Makes you think, doesn't it?
